St. Petersburg supermarket explosion injures 10

An explosion at a supermarket in St. Petersburg, Russia, injured 10 people on Wednesday. Alexander Klaus, head of the Investigative Committee of Russia in St. Petersburg, confirmed the individuals had sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were admitted to hospitals. According to a spokesman for the governor of St. Petersburg, one person was in serious condition.

The committee’s spokesperson said the explosive device contained the equivalent of 200 grams of TNT, and CBS reported the explosion occurred at a storage area for customers’ bags. The committee has opened a criminal investigation into “an attempt to kill two or more persons in a generally dangerous way.” No person or group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
